Do Angels exist? Are they only in Heaven? If your answer is yes, then I invite you to think again.

Many of us agree that heaven is the home of Angels. However, some humans in certain situations share some of the Angels’ attributes — could it be that these humans are walking Angels? Possibly! But, who are these Walking Angels? Are they saints, monks, hermits, or just regular people who live among us?

Angels were mentioned in many biblical stories in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Angels, as the Greek word suggests, are messengers of God. God utilizes Angels to carry out His plans or to deliver a message. God’s plan could take the form of protection or could shift one’s state to a better one. Let’s refresh our minds with two famous biblical scenes:

Scene 1:

Daniel is in the den of lions. The king wakes up and goes to mourn Daniel, but maintaining deep hope that Daniel’s God would keep him safe. The king approaches the den and says, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” To the king’s surprise, Daniel answers, “O king, live forever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me” (Daniel 6:19–22)

Scene 2:

Herod put Peter in jail. Peter is peacefully sleeping between two soldiers with two chains bound to him. All of a sudden, an angel appears and lights up the cell with his light, waking Peter up and asking him to follow him. (Acts of the Apostles 12:6–10)

In these two scenes, God sent his Angels to execute a plan He had for His people. But does God, the omnipotent, use only Spiritual Angels to take care of his children? Probably not. Think about your past. How many times has someone, who may have, until then, been a complete stranger to you, showed up in your life and helped you to get out of trouble? How many significant steps in your life or career happened because of someone who just then appeared in your life? These “someones” are figurative Angels who appear out of nowhere to show us the infinite love of our Lord Jesus Christ. They may not be spiritual creatures, nor they are sin-free; however, they can arguably be called Angels because, like Angels, they are sent to our lives by our Lord at the perfect time to carry out His plans and to fulfill His promise that “for those who love God all things work together for good.” (Romans 8:28)

Now, if you are thankful that God sends his Angels to fulfill His promises to you, it’s your turn to be an Angel. You don’t need to be perfect; all you need is to open your heart, listen to God, and follow his lead. “Then Jesus went around doing good” (Acts 10:38). Bore no effort in helping others, even by a simple prayer.
